FAQs
What age can my dog start training?
No dog is too old to start training, but the sooner you start training with your dog, the better. We have multiple training packages for both young puppies, adolescent, and adult dogs.
Can you help with aggressive or reactive dogs?
Yes. We work with reactive, anxious, and behaviorally challenging dogs. These cases require a structured evaluation so we can determine the right training approach. In some situations, management tools and step-by-step behavior modification plans are used to create safe and lasting improvement.
How long does training take?
It depends on the dog and the goals. Basic obedience improvements can often be seen quickly, while behavior modification and advanced training take longer. Consistency at home is one of the biggest factors in how fast results happen.
Do you offer training for multiple dogs in the same household?
Yes. Multi-dog households are very common, and we can train dogs together or individually depending on structure and behavior. We also offer tools and guidance for managing multiple dogs safely and effectively at home.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Greensboro, High Point, Oak Ridge, and surrounding areas in North Carolina for private lessons. If you’re outside the immediate area, feel free to reach out—we may still be able to help or offer guidance at an additional travel charge. Board & trains are welcome from any area throughout the state.
What makes your training different?
We focus on clear communication, structure, and real-world reliability—not just “obedience in a training room.” Our goal is to help your dog understand expectations in everyday life, not just during sessions.
Do you offer specialized training?
Yes. In addition to obedience and behavior work, we can take on specialty training upon request, including:
- Detection training
- Tracking and trailing
- Search and rescue foundations
- Service dog development
What should I expect in the first session?
The first session is focused on evaluation and communication. We assess behavior, discuss goals, and begin building a clear training structure. You’ll leave with a better understanding of your dog and a plan moving forward.
How much training time does my dog get each day during Board & Train Programs?
That’s a hard question to answer. With our Board & Train programs, your dog’s training is continuous throughout the day in several different ways due to the nature of a board and train program. Feeding, potty, and playtime are all a part of training because we structure it to create positive manners in your dog that may not already be a part of their normal daily routine, all of which comes in addition to the many training sessions or outings working on obedience, manners, and behavior throughout the day.
Do you use training tools such as prong collars or e-collars?
Sometimes. It depends on the dog. We do not participate in cookie-cutter dog training. Each individual dog has individual needs and for some dogs that requires a prong collar or an e-collar, but not all dogs need those tools and we do train dogs without them daily.
All training tools that we use come from high quality brands and materials. We do not support the use of shock collars. The e-collars used in our training uses low-level stimulation similar to the feeling of a TENS unit.
